2020-2021 Stars and Stripes Season Kicked Off November 1st

Stars and Stripes kicked off the 2020-2021 season with its first practice, parent meeting and photo shoot on November 1st.

Professional photographer Whitney Mills set up shop inside the 3v3 field at Highline Arena to shoot the individual photos. Athletes smiled, gave their best serious look, and posed with a ball. Whitney will compile each athlete's photos into a collage, complete with their name and graduation year, to hang on the SAS Wall of Fame.

Whitney also photographed the players grouped by graduation year and all together as a team. Holding Media Day on the first day of the season gave the new and returning players a chance to get to know each other. It gave them some down time to just hang out and laugh together off the court before the real work started!

After the photoshoot, the players got right down to business. For the 2020-2021 practice debut, the coaches broke the players into groups for a five station rotation with each station focused on a different skill.

The coaches chose to focus on a combination of basic fundamentals like serve receive and more advanced skills like hitting with a purpose.

The team was engaged and worked hard throughout the night. Coach Greg Wood said, "I loved the spirit, energy and coachability of all the groups!"

Practices are now in full swing for the Stars and Stripes team. You can expect to see huge improvements in these dedicated players as the season progresses!
