SAS Roots

SAS Roots 2023-2024

SAS Roots is geared toward athletes in 5th-8th grade and looks to train up talented younger athletes in the sport of beach volleyball.

Coaches will determine if a 5th-8th grade athlete is a good fit for SAS Roots. If a player needs more experience, the coaches will recommend the Beach Club at Highline Arena as a way to continue playing beach volleyball.

WHO IS COACHING SAS ROOTS?

  • SAS Roots is coached by the same coaches as our year round team. We are proud to have a deep roster of coaches dedicated to our programming.

 

CAN ANYONE SIGN UP FOR SAS ROOTS?

  • Any female athlete in grades 5-8 is welcome to tryout. The coaches will determine if each player is a good fit for the program and then make a recommendation for either SAS Roots or the Highline Beach Club.  

 

HOW MANY PLAYERS DO YOU ACCEPT FOR SAS ROOTS?

  • We are not looking for a set number of athletes. We make offers to as many or as few players meet the criteria we are looking for in an athlete. 

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS PRACTICE?

  • SAS Roots is different from the indoor model. We focus on individual training, so the only athlete that is affected if you do not come is YOU. There will be no discounts, fee reductions or refunds for missed practices.

 

WILL THERE BE TOURNAMENTS FOR SAS ROOTS PLAYERS? 

  • We don't expect SAS Roots players to travel to compete in tournaments, however Highline Arena will offer both women's and juniors tournaments throughout the fall, winter and spring that would be a great idea to sign up for. 

 

CAN I PLAY INDOOR CLUB WHILE ALSO PARTICIPATING IN SAS ROOTS?

  • Yes! We think in 5th-8th grade it is perfectly fine to participate in both. As players get older, it begins to be more difficult to do both the year round SAS team and play indoor club.

Step 1: Payment

$600/player - due 10/1

Filter by SAS, then choose SAS Roots.

Step 2: Sports Engine Registration

There are two ways to set up SportsEngine accounts. Some may have a parent account with an athlete sub-account; some may have the player as the account holder. It doesn't matter which you have, however we do expect that someone will get the notifications to their phone and will respond to the RSVP reminders.

There are certain areas of the SAS website you can only access by logging in to a rostered account, so you'll want to make sure you know the login and password.

New Players: 

Create a Sports Engine account AND complete the registration form to have access to the team calendar, team chat, practice RSVP, and more. Download the Sports Engine app for the most up to date information. Meghan will add you to the SAS Roots SportsEngine roster after you complete this form and your deposit is paid.

Returning Summer Players: 

Make sure you are able to log in to your account and have access to the SAS Roots schedule on the app. Meghan will add you to the SportsEngine roster for SAS Roots after your deposit is received.

All Players: 

Turn on notifications for SportsEngine. We expect that you see the reminders to RSVP and that you respond to them.

Step 3: Shirt Form

One SAS Roots shirt is included with your team fee.

Step 4: Contact Info Form

After the season starts we will share this with everyone so the coaches, parents and players have everyone's contact info.

Step 5: Mark Your Calendar!

Check back for specific Sundays we will not have practice due to holidays, events or building closures.
